Reflections on GlobalStep: Clara Schirrmeister
My journey at GlobalStep was a fresh start for me in many ways. I started at GlobalStep after moving to Montreal from Vancouver for my fiancé’s education. It was all new, in a city that I didn’t know and where I didn’t know anyone.
Nevertheless, GlobalStep provided me with a community where I felt like I belonged at a time when I didn’t know where to find one. Being able to work with people with similar passions and from different backgrounds is an incredible experience.
I started as an LQA tester and later applied for a project coordinator position with the encouragement of some wonderful supervisors. This gave me the opportunity to utilize a lot of the skills I had learned from previous jobs. It’s great to have management that recognizes your skills and rewards your hard work.
What I learned from my time working here is how immense is the effort that goes into making the video games that I play daily. It’s given me a new sense of awe whenever I pick up a new game, thinking of all the testers and people behind the process.
Coming from an education background, the work that everyone at GlobalStep puts in to help our clients and employees to succeed brings me joy and fulfillment.
I will never forget how I was encouraged to apply for my current position. This is the definition of values in action. I look forward to the day that I can provide that kind of opportunity to someone else.
